Many people have referred to the winter storm that hit the U.S. just a week ago as “Snowmaggedon” / “Snowpocalypse” etc… The local news stations mentioned that it will be a storm that will be talked about for years to come… the Winter Blizzard of 2011…
My backyard reached 9″ (in Kansas City), and being that I was snowed in, thought this would be a great time to test out my new intervalometer…
I set up my Canon EOS 5D Mark II, on my Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod
set in low mode, lensed with the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II
, and using a PocketWizard MultiMAX
tethered to the camera acting as the intervalometer.
The camera snapped a shot every 30 seconds for 12.5 hours… and slowed to a shot every 2 minutes for the last 2 hours. It was slowed down because the snow had stopped falling, but was still drifting / being blown around.
My main tools of measurement were empty bottles of Boulevard Beer… a local Kansas City Brewery that makes some very very tasty stuff (disclaimer: I am a volunteer tour guide at the brewery.
) I started with their smaller Unfiltered Wheat bottle, but soon realized the snow would overcome it, and added a Smokestack Series Rye on Rye bottle (large format Champagne style bottle). As the snow kept falling, I was concerned it may very well overtake that bottle as well, so I took out a Pale Ale 6-pack (with empty bottles), buried it in the snow, and placed a ruler down one side to help keep measure… Of course it was soon after that the snow stopped falling… So it goes.
In any case… here are the results… enjoy!
Nice timelapse.
I invite to do it again but with full bottles and at the end you come in the frame and drink it.
